Denise received awards, including The San Francisco Art Institute Merit Scholarship. In 2000 honorable mention in Best of the Bay Guardian and her work was featured in the 2001 issue of Zyzzyva, a San Francisco Journal of Arts and Literature. She received her BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in the Interdisciplinary Department. Her final graduating artwork was included and published in the 2001-2002 San Francisco Art Institute BFA Catalog. She donates her time and artworks annually to a variety of local and national charitable art auctions and benefits. Such as Hearts and Hero’s San Francisco 2008, benefiting the General Hospital Medical Center, Monster Drawing Rally, Southern Exposure SF, Visual Aid SF, San Francisco Bike Coalition, Spectrum Access Institute, ArtSpan, including a drawing for the “Art Block for Ghana” art benefit, held in 2011. She has been in juried shows such as CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, New York, and in 2009 “Resurrect: The Art of the Reclaimed Object” at the Mesa Contemporary Art Center in Mesa, Arizona. Her work was included in the online Artist Registry, Bay Area Visual Arts Network 2011-2013. Her work is also in the 2012 Edition of Studio Visit Magazine publication. She was accepted as a participating artist in The ArtSpan Studio Residency in 2016 until 2018. An image of, “Artificial Quarry” is in San Francisco, Root Division’s, MFA Never 2016 archive book project. Her work was juried into the fundraising exhibition, featuring Fifteen Artists for ArtSpan’s Selections Show at The Midway in San Francisco and 2017 and also nominated for The Fleishhacker Foundation, Eureka Fellowship Grant. One of 20 artists selected to participate in The Ladies Room, Curated by Danielle Krysa, The Jealous Curator, and presented by Jen Tough Gallery in San Francisco 2019. Additionally, her work will be in a group show, “Small Footprint” (28 artists) at Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery (JPG at the Bank) in Lafayette, California, opening late summer of 2020.
